Luring heads to beds..How Hotels Do it!

Isn’t it almost natural every time we walk into a hotel room, we plonk ourselves on the bed and feel the softness of the mattress, complete with its smooth sheets, to discern if we are getting our money’s worth. After all a major benchmark of luxury in hotels is an ultra comfortable bed that has the exceptional ability to drift us into nirvana in no time.

Whether resting in between work calls or lazing, making the most of hotel hospitality, a bed goes a long way in determining how our stay goes. A good sleep no doubt restores mind and body and leaves us with a sense of well being, adding to a great experience. Overtime hotels have paid growing attention to this one aspect, be it size of the pillow, number of duvets, softness of topper or mattress aerodynamics.

The competition to make hotel beds more alluring goes back centuries. The industry has gone to great lengths to lure the rich and famous into its beds. So much thought and design has gone into the mattresses that hotel chains such as Four Seasons and Marriott, have branched into beds’ retail under their own signature name.

Boutique hotels too in their attempt to promote a customized offering focus on the beds the most, even if they let everything else stay minimalistic.

Global chains have extended their offering to include a 360 degrees approach towards a heavenly sleep experience. They have many sleep solutions at hand for the weary. The bevy of amenities and programs to promote a restorative snooze include: pillow and duvet menus, resident sleep experts, sleep sensors, aromatherapy sprays and neuro-acoustic music.

Setting new trends, Four Seasons for example has the option of customizing your bed while you check in online. You can pick from three different mattress toppers—signature, the standard topper; plush, the extra soft option; or firm, the most supportive.

Marriot has an option for couples, for a mattress that is movement resistant. Called The Marriott Bed, this chain’s proprietary mattress is one-foot high from top to bottom (plus, there’s a nine-inch box spring underneath). Made of “high-density, open-cell poured polyurethane foam,” it helps minimize any movement from your partner, so you can sleep the night through without disturbances.

With sleep awareness on the rise, some of the Radisson properties boast select rooms with Sleep Number beds, which allow you to choose your own level of firmness. Even better: Each side of the bed can be dialed in for different levels of softness, so you and your partner can each get an ideal night’s sleep without having to strike a compromise.

Beds have certainly taken centre stage, from being just a centre piece!
