What is the EuroLatex ECO Standard?

The EuroLatex ECO Standard is one of the most respected certifications in Europe for natural latex foam. It was developed by the European Latex Foam Manufacturers in collaboration with TFI Germany (a leading independent testing institute).

It’s a safety benchmark that defines the maximum allowable levels of substances that could be harmful to health if present in your mattress core. The standard goes beyond typical local certifications—and it’s officially recognised by the European Commission.

What does it test for?

To meet this certification, latex foam is rigorously tested for the presence of:

  • Heavy metals like mercury and lead
  • Nitrosamines (potential carcinogens)
  • Pesticide residues
  • Volatile organic compounds (VOCs)
  • Harmful solvents

In simple terms, this certification is a promise that what you sleep on is free from toxic residues and truly engineered for rest—not just comfort.

Why Sunday chooses EuroLatex-certified foam

We use latex that meets the EuroLatex ECO Standard voluntarily—because health-first materials are non-negotiable for us. It’s part of our commitment to honest design and real sleep quality.

We don’t cut corners or play the fake-discount game. And we certainly don’t fold mattresses or skimp on certifications just to make a sale. Our customers—many of whom could choose any mattress—trust us to deliver what’s safe, clear, and built to last.

That’s why all Sunday mattresses that use latex meet this certification. It’s one of several we follow, including LGA certification for durability and long-term support.
