1. Budget: price per year, not price on the tag

You will sleep on this mattress every night for years. Divide the price by the years it will last, and compare that.

The latex costs 2.5 times as much on the tag, but only a quarter more per year. For "lasts", use a tested figure where the maker has one, and the averages below where it doesn't.

Then look past the "40% off". In the US, shops make 40 to 75% on a mattress, so a large discount can still leave a large margin. In India, analysts estimate that buying direct from the maker costs 30 to 35% less than buying through distributors and dealers.

Two easy checks: see if the "sale" price is the same next month, and compare the final price with delivery, not the discount. Since 2023, India's consumer regulator has named false urgency ("only 2 left", countdown clocks) and drip pricing (charges added at checkout) as banned "dark patterns".

2. Material: what each type is good at

4. Size: measure the bed, not the old mattress

Most mattresses sold online are compressed and rolled into a box. One large maker allows up to 72 hours for its rolled mattress to regain its shape. Sunday mattresses are never compressed: they arrive at full height, ready for the same night.
