Sunday makes natural latex mattresses in India. 1 lakh+ customers since 2015.

Scene 12015. Our first office.

A mattress with no name.

We had built a mattress we were proud of. Comfortable, safe, honestly priced.

We weren’t from the industry.

We had bought mattresses all our lives, and we wanted to change everything about them. Even the way you buy one.

It needed a name. I wrote down what the name had to be.

Scene 2Weeks later. An email from London.

Four countries made the mattress. For the name, we went to a fifth: London.

The agency that named Oyster, the travel card on the London tube.

I liked Schtoh. I even bought the web address, just in case.

But say it out loud. Schtoh. It didn’t sound right.

I wished I could pick a simple word. Apple. Orange. I was a few decades late for those.

Scene 3April. A Sunday afternoon.

Bored and tired, I lay down and fell asleep.

Even asleep, I was still thinking about the name. When you’re that obsessed, you do.

Boom. There it was.

The day most of us rest.

Scene 4The next morning.

No mattress brand had it. I tried it on my colleagues and our investors. Nobody needed convincing.

Then I took out the list again.

Sunday. Checked.

Now every Sunday morning, you’ll know where the name came from.
