Hell yeah! Nothing like a good relaxing massage to put your nerves to rest and slip away into heaven.
The history of massage dates back thousands of years to ancient civilizations that believed in its therapeutic benefits. The first written records of massage therapy are found in China and Egypt.
While even a simple massage with a good enough oil can do the trick there are some specialised massages to help you sleep your best.

  • Abhiyanga
This Ayurvedic massage is an ancient tradition to help cope with modern tensions. This involves atleast two therapists using ample warm oil that is known to be detoxifying. It releases fatigue, enhances stamina and complexion and even promotes longevity. It nourishes almost every part of the body balancing our chakras. Abhiyanga literally means “rubbing the limbs” in Sanskrit. It is considered as a passive exercise that strengthens the limbs and provides better sleep.
  • Thai Herb Pouch massage
One of the oldest techniques in which warm steamed linen pouches of medicinal herbs are pressed on the body to relieve it of any stress or pain. The herbs usually are a mix of kaffir leaves, patchouli, ginger, turmeric, limegrass apart from others. This massage is a blend of elements of aromatherapy, accupressure, muscle and connective tissue massage and Shiatsu techniques. This massage is also known as yoga for the lazy as it warms and stretches every muscle. The warming effect of the herb pouches puts the system into complete harmony. The therapist also help you loosen any stiff muscles as you feel happier and find yourself falling asleep more easily.
  • Hot stone massage
A unique Sweedish therapy aimed to balance and enhance the energy centers of the body called chakras by using volcanic or lava stones. The stones are warmed and applied on the skin using special strokes which soothe sore muscles and balance the energy flow throughout the body. The stones are usually Basalt rock stones as they are known to retain heat for the longest. Hot stone massage is very popular amongst those trying to beat anxiety, backpain, depression and insomnia.
  • Traditional Chinese Massage
The traditional Chinese massage has more energetic healing. Practitioners basically believe that energy must flow continuously to keep stress and health issues at bay. Over time they have included techniques of acupressure and acupuncture for best effect. Practitioners do a more holistic massage by balancing the “qi” of a body by clearing energy pathways called jing luo of blockages that cause pain and disease. Chinese massage practitioners identify pathways with limited flow and use hand pressure to restore balance to renew the body and make you feel as good as new.
